Electrical Panel Design Engineer - Gloucester

Group HES specialises in the design and manufacture of critical and complex fluid power (hydraulic) systems, generally for bespoke machinery in an extremely diverse range of industries, for example, aerospace, motor racing, off-highway equipment and test rigs.

An important part of these systems is the electrical controls and equipment fitted to the hydraulic power unit, and it is for the specification, design and project management of these control panels that the vacancy exists. We are looking for an Electrical Engineer who can deal with customers in terms of quoting/tendering and leading the design of industrial control panels, as well as more practical work, both in terms of circuit drawing and component specification.

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Panel Design Engineer to join our growing team in Gloucester, in fact, Group HES was just named as one of Gloucestershire's 25 fastest growing businesses, despite being founded over 50 years ago! By choosing a medium sized company you will be involved with the whole process and can have a tangible effect on how things are done and the procedures used; with a focus still on electrical panel design.

The Electrical Panel Design Engineer role will cover a range of tasks through the production of a control system, from initial customer proposals and quotations, through the design, oversite of the production and testing, with, on occasion, on-site commissioning.

The successful candidate for the Electrical Engineer role will have the following skills and abilities:

  • Able to design, specify and cost industrial control panels
  • Produce/modify electrical schematic diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical and/or Microsoft Visio and/or Design Spark
  • Able to support PLC specification, installation and commissioning
  • Understanding of motors, drives inverters, valves and pumps
  • Experience as a qualified electrically biased multi-skilled engineer, ideally with 17th Edition wiring regulations

The position will be based out of the Innsworth head office, with some travel to customers' sites required.

If you are interested we want to hear from you, please email a copy of your CV and a cover letter to vacancies@grouphes.com

We enjoy the personal side of recruitment; meeting and interviewing candidates ourselves, so we ask recruitment agencies to save their time and ours, by not calling to offer assistance to fill this role. We appreciate the offer and we will reach out to you if required.
